Congratualtions to our U18 senior football team who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and sporting excellence throughout the season so far. The squad has shown remarkable commitment, attending weekly training sessions every Tuesday evening after school with consistent enthusiasm and focus.
The team has achieved an impressive run in the national cup competition, reaching round 4 and placing in the last 128 teams out of 1,024 schools nationally. This outstanding achievement reflects the squad’s high technical ability, tactical awareness, and competitive spirit on a national stage. In this run, the team has secured impressive away victories against King Ecgbert and Penistone, demonstrating their ability to perform under pressure in challenging environments, coming from behind in both games to win.
The squad has also successfully progressed to the quarter-finals of the Derbyshire cup after a victory over David Nieper this week, positioning themselves well for further success in the competition. The last two years have resulted in a semi final exit in extra time and on penalties, so we are hoping to go one step further and reach the final this year!
Friendly fixtures have also been arranged this season. These additional games have provided valuable opportunities for other Sixth Form students to represent the school competitively, fostering wider engagement and development across the year group.
Looking ahead, the season will resume after the Christmas break in the new year, with the team well-positioned to continue their excellent form. We have genuine optimism about progressing further in the Derbyshire cup, building on the strong foundation established in the first half of the season. We wish them good luck!
