As you are probably aware, Shutts Lane is very busy at the beginning and end of the school day. With over 1,300 students arriving or leaving the site at the same time, safety is our prime concern.

It is with a sense of privilege and excitement that I take up the position of Headteacher at Lady Manners School from Duncan Meikle. This week sees the visible start of a project by Lady Manners School to make more effective use of its beautiful site, to improve the sports facilities for its students and the wider community.

Rebecca Marrow, Lady Manners School student, has stormed through a national biology competition to be chosen to represent the UK in the international competition in Iran in the summer.

The election for the four Parent Governor vacancies took place on 1 November. As a result Mrs Emma Goldsack, Mrs Laura McNulty, Mr Keith Shivers and Dr Chasca Twyman have been elected to the Board of Governors.
It's not just new students who have been welcomed to Lady Manners School this term. New heads of Maths, English and Languages are bringing with them a fresh perspective to the school.
GCSE results this year show that Year 11 students have performed well at Lady Manners School in Bakewell. In the core subjects where there is a new grading system this year 85% of students gained at least a ‘4’ in Maths (nearest equivalent to Grade C) and 80% gained at least a ‘4’ in at least one of their English GCSEs.

The weather favoured us on Sports Day, held yesterday, Tuesday 20 June. Conditions were ideal for a wonderful day of sport, which saw Glossop lift the house trophy with a lead over Barker of just 1 ½ points!
Lady Manners School Catering Team has, once again, been awarded the top Food Hygiene Rating of five by the Food Standards Agency.
In light of recent communications about school funding – both at a national level and about our school in particular - the Lady Manners School Parents’ Association hosted a discussion on this topic at their meeting on Tuesday 4 April. We are delighted that a wide range of parents attended and a variety of views existed about the best way to move forward.
