I joined the Lady Manners School Governing Board as a Parent Governor in November 2017, served as Vice Chair from early 2020 and was elected to Chair of Governors in September 2020. I also have experience of governance from Longstone C of E Primary School. In 2021 I was designated as a National Leader of Governance and provide Department for Education (DfE) funded, targeted support to schools with governance challenges.
My background is in higher education and international development. I spent twenty years as an academic at the Department of Geography, University of Sheffield specialising in social policy and environmental change. Since leaving the university in 2017, I provide strategic support and expertise to Bakewell’s own international development charity, Village Aid.
I have two sons at Lady Manners School. I am keen to promote good relations between the Governing Board and parents and would like to contribute to ensuring that our school continues to strive to be a creative and enjoyable place for our children to learn. I feel strongly that state education should deliver a brilliant education for all children.
