The Year 12 Chemistry students have recently been taking part in the Royal Society of Chemistry Schools’ Analyst competition. They had to use the skills learnt this year to analyse a series of samples including finding the concentration of caffeine in a cup of coffee, identifying known ingredients in lipstick and identifying an unknown substance in skin cream. Although LMS students didn’t win the Midlands section, Austin and Jacob gained the highest marks within the school and were awarded certificates.
