Derbyshire School Games Champions

Lady Manners School has been crowned secondary school champion of the Derbyshire School Games Championship 2015-16.

Miss Pownall-Jones and Mr Allen with the School Games trophyThe county-wide games are run by the Derbyshire Schools’ Sports Association (DSSA) and provide the opportunity for schools within the county to complete in up to 14 different sports. Teams from Lady Manners School competed in athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, dance, football, netball, rounders, rugby union and table tennis.

The competitions in all of the events move from inter school (District) level through to Derbyshire County finals. Points are accumulated along the way and the school with the most points overall is crowned Derbyshire School Games Champion. The school also had teams – including the successful Equestrian Team - and individuals nominated in separate awards.

Miss Pownall-Jones, Head of PE at Lady Manners School collected the school’s award at a glittering ceremony at The Proact Stadium, Chesterfield.
