It is with a sense of privilege and excitement that I take up the position of Headteacher at Lady Manners School from Duncan Meikle. I am sure that I echo the views of the whole school community in expressing our gratitude to Mr Meikle for all his hard work and in wishing him a well-earned and enjoyable retirement.

I arrive at Lady Manners School having spent almost 30 years in education, working in five widely contrasting schools. For the last six years, I have been the Headteacher of Woodbrook Vale School in Loughborough and, prior to this, I was Deputy Headteacher at Highfields School in Matlock. I feel I bring with me considerable experience across a range of roles and look forward to the challenge of leading this excellent school. I am fully aware that all schools are unique in nature and I will always listen to the views of others before making key decisions as we look to the future.

I am committed to leading an aspirational, caring and inclusive school. I believe in the importance of all aspects of education and I measure success in the many and varied achievements of all students. The school motto ‘Strive to Attain’ certainly fits my own educational philosophy.

It is my aim to ensure that everyone at the school feels part of a successful team, knowing that they are valued, being inspired to fulfil their potential and taking their place in society as individuals who can make a real difference. I know I have been fortunate to inherit a dedicated and talented team of staff who will work tirelessly to fulfil all our aspirations.

Success comes from a commitment to working in partnership. I value the importance of strong and effective relationships between home and school and look forward to building on such relationships, based on mutual respect and trust. As part of this, if you wish to contact me, you can do so by emailing my PA at
