As a former student of Lady Manners School, Andy graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 2005 with BSc Hons degree in Psychology and Biology and then pursued a postgraduate education at Manchester Metropolitan University completing an MSc in Sport and Exercise Science (Psychology sided) in 2006, following which he undertook a part-time PhD at the University of Huddersfield in sport psychology, specifically focusing on the development of applied practitioners. In 2012 Andy was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology at the University of Derby, and since August 2014 has held the position of Head of Sport and Exercise Science. Andy is also a BASES accredited and HCPC registered sport and exercise psychologist who provides one-to-one and group sport psychology consultancy to athletes, coaches and sport and exercise participants aiming to improve sport and exercise performance and well-being.
