I have lived in Derbyshire in the Bakewell area for over twenty years, having moved to the county from Manchester just as my children were approaching school age. Since then, all three have been pupils at Lady Manners School and are now making their way in the world. I know that the school provided them with the perfect foundations on which to build successful lives and careers.
I am a Chartered Civil Engineer and work for Derbyshire County Council as Service Director for Highways. My role is to lead and manage in-house and external resources to provide the safest and most reliable highway network for all its users.
I enjoy doing many different things with my spare time. If I'm outdoors I'll usually be walking, but have been known to mess about on a bike or in a sailing dinghy. If cold and wet, I'll probably retreat indoors where I enjoy DIY, art or playing the guitar.
I have been a governor at Lady Manners School since for more than ten years. Now the children are no longer students at the school I have relinquished my Parent Governor role, but am pleased to be the Duke of Rutland’s representative on the Governing Body.
